Diana’s wedding was surrounded with a lot of controversy and debate. Most of the royal engagement rings are custom-made but Lady Di chose hers from a Garrad Jewelry collection catalog which was available to anyone for purchase.

The ring was comprised of a blue Ceylon sapphire set surrounded by 14 diamonds and set in 18-karat white gold. Even after her divorce with Prince Charles, she continued to wear the ring. When she died, the ring was handed down to Prince William which he gave to Kate Middleton when he proposed.
