Celine was only 12 years old when she composed her first song, Ce n’etait que’un reve (“It Was Only a Dream”/”Nothing But a Dream”) with the help of her mother and brother Jacques. 

Michael, her brother, sent the recording to Rene Angelil (music manager), a name he found on an album by Ginette Reno.

According to reports Rene was moved to tears hearing Celine’s powerful and beautiful voice. He decided that he would make Celine a global superstar. He was only a part-time music manager, and he simply did not have the money to make a commercial record.
